Resultants and Moving Surfaces
We prove a conjectured relationship among resultants and the determinants arising in the formulation of the method of moving surfaces for computing the implicit equation of rational surfaces formulated by Sederberg. In addition, we extend the validity of this method to the case of not properly parametrized surfaces without base points.

متن کاملMacromolecular synthesis by yeasts under frozen conditions.
Although viable fungi have been recovered from a wide variety of icy environments, their metabolic capabilities under frozen conditions are still largely unknown. We investigated basidiomycetous yeasts isolated from an Antarctic ice core and showed that after freezing at a relatively slow rate (0.8 degrees C min(-1)), the cells are excluded into veins of liquid at the triple junctions of ice cr...
متن کاملAnomalous stress relaxation in random macromolecular networks
Within the framework of a simple Rouse-type model we present exact analytical results for dynamical critical behaviour on the sol side of the gelation transition. The stress-relaxation function is shown to exhibit a stretched-exponential longtime decay. The divergence of the static shear viscosity is governed by the critical exponent k = φ − β, where φ is the (first) crossover exponent of rando...
متن کاملAnalysis of a Beam under Moving Loads
Abstract: It is assumed that a beam made of material has a physical nonlinear behavior. This beam is analyzed under the moving concentrated and distributed continuous loads. The vibration equations of motion are derived from the Hamilton's Principle and Euler–Lagrange Equation. In this study, the amplitude of vibration, circular frequency, bending moment, stress and deflection of the beam has b...
